Does my car have 4WD? 2005 Hyundai Santa FE?

I have a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 2.7L V6 MPI. On the back of the car it says 4WD. I bought this car used so i'm not exactly sure if the car is in fact 4WD. I checked the owners manual and it saws Full-Time 4WD (if installed) No where in the manual does it actually tell me if 4WD is installed.

Can someone tell me how to figure out if my car does have 4WD for sure. Other than just going by what I see on the back of the car. And i know that you can look for some sort of differential underneath the car but i have no idea what to look for under there.

Also if anyone has this car could you tell me a little bit about how the 4WD performs in Snow Conditions and if you have to do something to engage the 4WD or if it is always on. That would Be amazing!! Thank you!

Update:

You said that if it has the rear differential (which it does i think) then it is either FWD or AWD. I'm trying to figure out if my car is FWD or AWD. Any ideas on how to tell

If you look between the front and rear axle, you should see a drive-shaft coming from (transmission) going all the way connected to rear axle. That means you have a AWD truck. Santa FE was build with an all time AWD system with slipping clutch type transfer case. When one wheel starts slipping the fluid inside the transfer case heats up causing expansion. When expanding, its pushing the clutches and engages that wheel to follow the other three, helping the truck to have almost the same motion at the same time. All this happen in a very short period of time (under a second)

Look under the back of the car, in the center, between the back wheels. If there is a pumpkin shaped metal object there that would be the rear differential, it would only be there is the car is FWD or AWD.

If the Chrome tag on the back says 4WD, that's exactly what it means.

Source(s): I had a 2 wheel drive Santa Fe and there was nothing on the car that said otherwise. Enjoy a great car.

You've answered your own question. "On the back of the car it says 4WD."

there is probably something in the VIN that denotes 4wd. you could type it in to your search on your web browser. also, it might be mentioned on your title.

If it has a differential in the rear, then it is a four wheel drive.

Get under the front of the vehicle and look to see if there are drive shafts running to the wheels!
