I'm sick, but what is it?

My throat hurts very bad, and I have trouble swallowing. I didn't have a fever when I checked this morning, but now I have a slight one at 99.8. I don't have a cough. My nose is running a tiny bit, but not enough for me to even notice. Do I just have a cold, or could it be Strep?

Update:

I looked at my throat, and my tonsils were huge and it looked like there was some white. I have a fever now.

Could be Strep. Though, without a fever I could not be sure. 'Most' viral illnesses are accompanied by fever, even if it's just low grade.

I'd also ask,do you sleep with your window open or a fan on you? Than can cause your throat to be dry and irritated. Some hot tea with lemon can help.

Best thing to do,to rule out Strep is take a good flashlight. Head to your bathroom. Look at your throat. If you see white patches on your tonsils. That is Strep.

It sounds like strept. Most of the time you will run a fever. Go to the dr and they can give you s simple swab test.
