Yahoo Messenger question ?

I use Yahoo Mail Classic and every time I go to my email, a Yahoo Messenger box pops up with a message that the same person wants me to add them to my chat list. Even though I decline and check the "Block" option, the next time I open my mail page, it pops up again - same name. How do I make it stop - it's annoying.

Update:

Lizzie.....It doesn't come through my email, it pops up when I go to email - when it says accept or decline, I decline it, but every time I go to my email, I get the same request from the same person even though it says they've been blocked. It's not a huge problem, it's just annoying. The spam thing I've gotten down to a science, but this messenger thing (which I don't even use) is trying my patience.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying, and both you and the other answerer are correct in your own way. Those ARE Messenger Invites and I have no idea why they're showing up when you go into your Mail account.

Unless you downloaded your Messenger from one of the sites that has every download under the sun on it, then I'd understand. If so, you might want to get rid of that and get your download directly from Yahoo:

Follow this link to download and install Messenger 10:

    http://messenger.yahoo.com/win/

Or if you'd rather use the latest Beta Messenger, go here:

    http://messenger.yahoo.com/beta/win

As for those unwanted invites, as suggested before, here's how to handle this one and any more that come your way:

Open Messenger Live and click Tools, then Options, then Privacy.

Open Privacy and at the very top you'll see, Allow List, put a check mark in the square that reads, only people on my Allow list can read and send me messages.

You can click View now, if you'd like to see your Contact list. This can help you determine who contacts you and who doesn't.

At the bottom of the page, click Apply, then OK and you're all set. It's not absolutely necessary, but here's where I always reboot my computer, after making really important changes like this. It will doubly insure that your changes are set and to me, worth the extra 2 minutes.

    Good luck!

Open Messenger and click Messenger on the toolbar, scroll to Preferences, then Ignore List.

Fill in the top circle, "Ignore anyone not on my Messenger list, click Apply, then OK and you're all set!

Aw c'mon, Vic, give us a difficult one. Seriously, if you mean those msgs come to your regular email, have you tried putting them in the spam folder? I know you can ignore a user on Yahoo IM but have never had a request come thru my email account. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
