How to remember a song melody that you forgot?
I came up with a good song melody while I was shopping. I thought about something else and then I completly forgot! So, does anyone have any ideas for remembering it again?
Well, I can't go back because it's an hour away. -_- I normally bring my mp3 player that records stuff, but I wanted to study on the way there and I was afraid that if I brought it I wouldn't actually study for the two hours like I was supposed to. Big mistake! It's hard not to stress, I was even coming up with the harmony and everything. It came so easily and then poof it's gone. I'm going to go play around on the keyboard like you suggested.

Try to retrace your steps. Actually go back there if possible. It's almost hopeless, unfortunately, but sometimes you will remember. Don't stress yourself out too much, that makes it harder, just come up with new melodies. And bring an iPod or something everywhere so you can record your voice if it happens again.

five songs? that is first-class. On to the subject, whilst I compose I have a sheet of paper and a pen (pencil) equipped to jot down down the notes (or tabs) of the newly created melodies. Usually I play it for a couple of occasions, to get it caught into my reminiscence after which I write it down.
