How do web pages/url's etc get published on search engines?

It is easy, fast, and free.

You just have to let the search engine robots know about the site so they will go examine it.

There are many ways to do this. Doing them all is good. The easiest is to register your RSS feed with an aggregate service like feedage.com. You can even do it if you don't have an RSS feed. Feedage explains how. FYI: if you have a blue or yellow button at the end of the address bar for the site - you have an RSS. Click on it and copy.

It helps if you have your site set up so it is easy for the Search Engines to figure out what it is all about. You do this by good on-site structure using H1 and H2 tags, a site map, and more.

If you want to get your site listed at the top of the page, then there is a whole lot more stuff you can do.

It is all free. You can pay for some of it. But it can all be done for free.

They will add you automatically within a time frame of maybe a month if not 3 months. Make your you have a meta description tag since search engines don't touch java and never will (security issues). Set up a sitemap or go to each search site and type add url (yahoo has submit url on the bottom of their page)

You can either pay google/yahoo to make the your name pop up on certain search words.

If you want it to appear on itself on the first pages of google, you would have to be getting many thousand and thousands of hits per day.
