Big Bang question..part 2?
I'm sorry I disagree with your religious beliefs..but why would you say to me anything about my beliefs...they're mine!
You say scientists invented the big bang, your right! There's proof of that. I say man invented God! There's NO proof that says otherwise. Why are you in astronomy and space catagory again????? Someone back me up here.

It sounds as though you responded to the list when you were attempting to respond to a single individual. Nobody actually invented the big bang. It is a theory based on the existence of the cosmic background radiation. This microwave signal comes from all directions in space, from every direction. It is thought to be the echo from the initial "bang". Nobody knows what caused the big bang. String theory is an attempt to unite all the five fundamental forces in physics. It says there are a number of alternate dimensions. each exists side by side but completely separate. It is suggested ours came into existence when two of the dimensions collided momentarily. The point of collision is the source of the bang, all the matter and all the energy in this universe.
FYI: the universe has been expanding since it came into being. It is expanding into an infinite empty region, in other words nothing. This means nothing exists outside the universe, despite the fact it is increasing in size..

The hypothesis which grew and became the theory which we call by the awful name "Big Bang" was conceived by a priest. The scientific paper describing it (the Primeval Atom Hypothesis, in one of its English-language translations) was published in 1927.
I'm certain that he thought the "Big Bang" was created by God (however, I doubt that Father Lemaitre would have called it "Big Bang"). The idea actually became a full-fledged theory (in the modern sense of the word) around 1948-1949 when scientists (Alpher and Gamow) designed a series of observational tests that would be able to tell whether Big Bang made any sense.
The name was given to the theory in the 1940s, by an adversary of the theory: Fred Hoyle (probably the most famous astrophysicist at that time); he used the name during a radio interview and it caught on... as a derisive term. Fred's own theory is called Steady State and it called for an eternal universe: no beginning = no creation = no Creator. Fred was a proud atheist.
That attempt to use science as a tool to disprove God finally failed officially in 2003, when the last remaining piece of the Steady State theory was disproved (the decline and fall began with the discovery of the Cosmological Microwave Background theory in 1964).
Which brings us to the next point: if you want to discuss God in a science forum, you need to specify which one you want to talk about. Even if you want to speak vaguely of a "higher power". To early hominids, the wind was a "higher power" and was even recognized as a god because of that -- however, man did not create the wind, it was already existing and was already able to blow trees down and make life miserable.
Man definitely invented religion. Usually as a way to control the lives of others. Sometimes for the good (many societies grew in knowledge very rapidly because they were well organized under strict sets of behavioral rules), often for the bad.
Many people confuse faith in God with faith in a religion (or even a book).
Father Lemaitre's faith in God was never negatively affected by his theory. In fact, even the Church thought it was a good idea, as they promoted him to the rank of honorary prelate (equivalent to a bishop, but without having to run an episcopal see). So it would seem that the God defined by the Catholic Church is not offended by the Big Bang theory.

The Big Bang is a theory of Creation of the Universe. It does not explain how Humans fit in this large volume of celestial bodies. There are one trillion galaxies in the Universe and each galaxy is so big that it can be called a universe into itself. There is no exact explanation why we need so many Galaxies for the Earth to exist or how they affect Human existence. Any more than our parents are able to explain where we came from.Except that we were born in an hospital.
