If you want free then I recommend Avast , superantispyware and Malwarebytes. coupled with Comodo firewall They are all free for personal use . It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly.

If you are infected with spyware/malware or a virus Microsoft has a free anti-virus and spyware removal package that work great on XP and above.
It is called Security Essentials. Since its inception I have removed all others and installs it on all of my computers and did or at least encouraged all my clients to do the same.
Almost all of them have been free or at least are able to get rid of any infections if and whenever they get hit.
As always please remove all other protection apps before installing another virus protection. Norton especially does not like company and can react accrodingly.

All of the following are free, and work very well. My personal favorite is Avast, but I switched to Windows Security Essentials a few months back and I’m very pleased with it.
Note: It is best to run at least 2 anti spyware programs, but never run more then 1 anti virus to eliminate conflicts.

AVG (Anti-virus)

Windows Defender (Anti-virus)

Those are the three best programs, trust me.
They catch viruses even on "quick scan".

If you need a free antivirus program, I would recommend that you try using Microsoft Security Essentials, which can be downloaded from the link below.

In addition to running frequent antivirus scans, I would also suggest that you run frequent antispyware scans.
If you need a free antispyware program, perhaps you should try using MalwareBytes, which can be downloaded from the link below.
