is it abnormal for a 14 year old to still be drinking out of a baby bottle?

my step-daughter is 14 years old and has always been a bit baby-ish, but then last night, i find that she's drinking out of a baby bottle and sucking a dummy when going to bed. she's always carried a baby blanket with her wherever so goes, sleeping with the light on and is incapable of just saying dad, its daddy in a very baby-ish way. she doesnt suffer from learning difficulties so should i be concerned? please i am not trying to offend any one, i just dont think this is normal behaviour for a teenager

You should take her to a psychologist. this doesn't looks like it's normal.

O.K., there is more than one level of analytic views here. The blanket is an item of security which a majority of little children use and this can be anything, even a toy. Our society is in a Oral Fixation generation just like Sigmund Freud had in his theories. You can see this in the nipple types of bottles we buy at stores. and of course too, our fixation with oral fixated communications. Talking at a level of what some call baby talk is nothing abnormal and to some grown-ups this is rather intimate. The step-daughter is not your responsibility but if she resides in "your household" then stand-up and make yourself known. yes, there may be a certainty of abnormality in these behaviors, a psychologist would help in making a diagnosis, but while doing so, the father ought to be in therapy also.

i think you should try to talk with her and ask her why she does these things. does she do this to her mother? i noticed you said you were her step parent. so maybe she is calling you "daddy" because she misses her real dad or she used to do that with her dad. or maybe she is not used to having a father around so therefore she is acting like a child. if these are none of the situations then i am completely sorry i misunderstood!!!!! but all i could say is try taking her to a psychologist because a professional is going to know alot more than the users of yahoo answers!!!!!! :)
