I'm looking for a portable adjustable system for my son but I don't know anything about basketball. Help?
My son is 5 and loves basketball. The plastic kids hoops are no good for him. They're not very well balanced and they're mostly too short for him to do any actual shooting. So I want to get him a real hoop. It has to be portable because we rent and cannot install anything permanent. I have been looking online but it seems like anything that adjusts down below 7.5 foot (much too high for him now) has bad ratings.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I looked at these two:
Mr Blaze, thanks, I did see that one on a different site but it had no reviews attached to it there. The only thing is that one only goes down to 7.5 feet high, and my son is small for his age. I don't think he could shoot near that high yet.

A Pro Dunk adjustable basketball goal might be a good option for you.

Some great things about the Pro Dunk basketball hoop for your situation
1) Effortlessly adjustable down to five feet
2) Great performance with high-quality tempered glass backboard
3) Limited lifetime warranty - This will be the last basketball goal you ever have to buy
The stumbling block...
I know you're looking for a portable because you're renting. The Pro Dunk basketball system is what I like to call semi-portable. It's not something you're going to move every day but it is something you can take with you when you move.
How is this possible?
The Pro Dunk basketball goal uses a pier based installation meaning the basketball system bolts onto the concrete separately allowing you to simply unbolt it and take it with you to your new house.
So, in conclusion, I know you were looking for a portable but if you can go with a semi portable option, the hoop will get low enough, perform better, and you wont be buying a new basketball goal every year.
I hope this helps or at least opens up your options as I know you were having difficulty finding something portable.
