What skates should I get?

Well, the time has come for me to get new skates...

I'm currently working on axel (it's almost consistent), double salchow and double loop, flying camel, flying sit and layback spin. I'm 14, and about 55kg (don't know lbs, sorry) and I'm tall (175cm or so). I'm a pretty fast learner, I've only been skating for about 10 or 11 months, so I want my skates to last me a while. I have pretty average shaped feet... The skates I've been considering are: (there's so many choices!!)

-Risport Excellence

-Riedell 435TS

-Edea chorus

-GAM ultra

-Jackson Elite

And for blades I'm thinking either JW coronation ace or comet or Ultima Protege or Legacy

Do any of you have any opinions on which skates I should get?? Do you think my options are reasonable for my level? I don't really have much of a budget but I want them as inexpensive as possible (at the moment I have about $600 saved up :P but I have a flexible budget). And suggestions/experiences with any of these?

Thanks, and happy skating :D

Riedell's getting a bad rap in this question. Riedell is a very good brand and the reason Riedell does not work for the other answerers is because they probably did not fit right. If the brand that you are using now fits you well, keep buying that brand.

You really need to ask your coach and a professional skate fitter what model of skate to get. It's pretty individual. Jackson Elite is probably going to be too stiff for you, Freestyle or Competitor would be better.

You might be thinking that you should get a higher level skate to support all your doubles. But doubles take a while to get consistent, so get a boot meant for single axels and doubles, not a boot meant for double axels and double lutzes. You want to avoid overbooting at all costs.

Coronation Ace is perfect for your level. Aces should last you through the rest of your doubles. Comet has an 8.5' rocker, so I would stick with the Aces if I were you. Ultima Lite or Legacy are good too. $600 should be more than enough, so don't worry about that.

I'd recommend Jackson Elites...mine were a second-hand pair about a year old, and the girl who'd had them before me was doing doubles and flying spins and had her axel and everything, and even though I've taken them back down to a salchow, they're still stiff as boards. ;)

I personally really like gams, but jacksons are pretty similar and I've heard they're good too. I don't really like Riedells cause when I used to wear them they would break down fast and they gave me blisters.

You should get the Jackson Elites! I have the elite plus and i love them! i had Riedells and they hurt my feet so bad and they broke down really quick!! i think Jackson's are way better for higher level jumps!
