He has done it against Utah his rookie year and that was why they got eliminated in the play-offs that year.

Although Bill's stats may not be that much (mainly because he was a team player), his IQ pretty much makes him one of the greatest. He attacked the game psychologically, that when opposing teams try to attack the basket they hesitate because they know Russell is there waiting to block their shots... Before, the notion was to out shoot your opponents. So in a sense Russell single handedly changed the basketball landscape with his defense because when he appeared teams think twice scoring the basket. And that is why in 1980 the press declared him the greatest ever to play. Plain and simple Bill considered a mind game and he succeeded forcing his will on his opponents.

Wilt's sheer dominance was the most devastating in NBA history. To note, It was not Wilt's fault that he was born during that time with the physical gifts and great mobility he had. In modern times, we consider Michael Jordan as one of the greatest because he dominated the 90's. In the 60's it was Wilt. It was Man vs. Boys, as Wilt overpower the opposition with sheer strength and brute. Kobe was never that dominant (even in his prime), Shaq could only wish he'd been born from before. So you see why I rank them above the players you mentioned, If Bill and Wilt never came to be the only big players to talk about from the yesteryears is Bob Pettit and George Mikan and they were not the same as Russell and Wilt.

edit: Darth Raven, Shaq said so himself, "no one else had the balls to take that shot". as a rookie, you want a player to be like that. since those air balls, how have the jazz done compared to kobe? didn't malone leave the jazz to play with kobe?

they played in different eras, and russell/wilt played against less than half the teams the others did. also, wilt didn't have many players that came even close to his size to compete with

yup whenever he gets swatted, misses an easy shot, gets it stolen, gets called for an offensive foul or foul period, or airballs a shot its automatically the refs fault. He always cries to the refs, its like shut up and play, crybaby.

Get a life. You seriously watch games to watch players fail? Don't you have anything better to do with your time?
