I'm going to be in the USA for just 2 weeks. What is my best prepaid/pay as you go plan for my cell phone?
I used to have Cingular pay as you go, but after i moved to Europe for over a year, i lost my number. Now i am visiting friends for 2 weeks in the States, and need a phone to stay in contact with the people i will be hanging out with there. I'm guessing that that will involve making calls and sending text messages on a daily basis.
I already have an unlocked phone, so all i need is a Sim card. What is my cheapest option?

I'm not familiar with INDSIM or MTN in the U.S., so here's my answer:
I would say the first thing to consider is the coverage where you will be staying. Not all providers cover all areas in the U.S., unfortunately.
Secondly, it sounds to me like you will probably be best served by an "unlimited everything" type of plan if you can get it, or else a a 1000 minute/1000 text msg type of plan.
I just found on AT&T's site (http://bit.ly/gQT69X) that they have a $2 daily unlimited plan, which looks like it might work for you. I've never done this personally, but it looks like you can get a SIM card from AT&T retail stores. I couldn't figure out whether there's any cost for the SIM.
Another option, if you want to get a temporary phone while you are in the US, would be Straight Talk prepaid (http://bit.ly/hQIJjz). You can get a "refurbished" phone free when you buy either the $30 or $45 plan. I would suggest the Samsung t401g currently available. It's a pretty basic, bulky phone, but it's free and the QWERTY keyboard is good if you'll do a lot of texting. Be forewarned, though, this phone won't work when you go back to Europe - it's locked to Straight Talk. Also, you'll need to order online to get this deal, so you might need to have your friend order it for you.

It depends on which country you are from. Citizens from all civilized nations may enter the US freely for 90 days under the Visa Waiver program. Citizens of other countries, such as those who support terrorism and totalitarian dictatorships may not enter without a visa. Edit - the countries are : Andorra Iceland Norway Australia Ireland Portugal Austria Italy San Marino Belgium Japan Singapore Brunei Liechtenstein Slovenia Denmark Luxembourg Spain Finland Monaco Sweden France the Netherlands Switzerland Germany New Zealand United Kingdom

Try using an INDSIM. It'll give you free incoming in 50+ countries and cheap roaming in other countries. Its just a few dollars cost. So get an Indsim fast.
