I'm not sure where to start?

Update:

Sorry its:

f(x+2y, x−2y) =

f(xy, 4x^2y^3) =

Update 2:

work backwards to figure out what the original f(x) would be by replacing all (xy) with (x)

    so, f(x) = x - 6

    after that, plug away!
