That genius Pelosi actually stated in front of a national audience that natural gas is not a fossil fuel. What an idiot. Also, don't believe for a moment that burning natural gas does not release harmful emissions. It does. And, yes, compared to gasoline there still remain some safety questions about using natural gas in place of gasoline.

oil is not always a import. some use domestic oil supply. usually held in reserve.

The USA consumes 1/4 of the worlds oil.

Because we consume more oil than we produce and oil companies have a stranglehold on the system so we have a hard time researching other fuel options.
