wish id known about the cabbage leaves,it took 12/13 weeks for my milk to go!
anyway, the main thing is not to stimulate the breast in any way - try not to touch them and dont express or squeeze them.try pouring cold water over your chest (i know that warmth helps the milk drop down).you can also get tablets from the doctor, but i know theyre rarely given these days (my mum got them after me and my twin were born, her milk dried up in a couple of days).i think theyre just diuretics though
i dont think you should be put down because youre no longer breastfeeding - i think you should be applauded for sticking with it so long

+1 Diet C's advice
What's the 'lactation person' -- is this a qualified consultant or a nurse self-styled as a consultant? Because LOADS of mothers on here have been given bum steers by the latter. A qualified "IBCLC" consultant should be able to help you get her back on the breast. A blessing to still have milk...

Had she been getting bottles?
Again, there are fiddles to get them latched back on, and for-real in-person support can fix this...

The cabbage leaves worked for me too. Also make sure not to touch your breasts. Don't pump, don't squeeze, don't rub. Wear the leaves in your bra for a couple days (change them of course, don't wear the same leaves the whole time) and you should be dry.
thumbs down me if you want, but she asked how to dry them up not how to get the kid back on the breast. I'm just answering the question that was asked.

This sounds strange but totally works. Take 2 cabbage leaves, cut a slice into them a few times and then put one into each bra cup. Wear them for a few days. It will dry you up.

4 month olds routinely go on nursing strikes. My guess is you panicked when that happened and offered her bottles to replace it and accidentally weaned her from the breast.
These should help you get her back on track: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/baby/back-to-b...

dont touch your boobs at all, and when you have a shower try not to let the hot water run over them to much. that worked for me
