Why we require full volume in head set while we travel?

When we are in a room, we require very low volume of sound...but while we travel, with the same head set, we are forced to increase the volume to its maximum.

What is its reason?

Our ear capacity is constant and the headset used is same. Then, why a change in volume is required, at different atmosphere?

    More noise caused by traveling.

The brain is a very adaptive instrument. When the background sound level increases, it does not need to 'alert' you to it, unless it decides there is something important in the sound. So it just sort of filters it out. You hear it: your ears register the sound - but the mind does not focus on it.

Still, there is a concept in physics called "signal to noise" ratio. The signal has to be large enough (loud enough) so that the brain can separate it from the background sounds it is receiving. The brain may be able to make it seem as if the background sound - or background noise - is almost unnoticeable, but it still has to be able to get enough information from your headset to present you with an intelligible message: either all the nuances of speech, or the subtle tones of music.

If the background sound is too loud, some of this sound will be overshadowed by it. You experience this as a need to turn the volume up. If you do not, the brain is unable to get enough information from your headset to send you clear 'music only' information.

It is the disturbance from outside world forces you to increase volume. In room normally there is silence. Also you will notice night time is better for listening on headset than day time...try it...

becausese outside noise is high which makes hearing things more difficult so u need to increase what you are listening to when on travel

same volume can be low if u shut all your windows as outside noise is less
