How do you feel when you cast the magick circle?

I'm not Wiccan, and I don't have any special interest in witchcraft, but I do understand the numerous magical forces that affect me, and I choose to be aware of everything. I hear many people referencing the magick circle, and I've never raised one, but I've always considered doing it, because I'm so sure that it must create a certain sense of ecstasy. Since it's the creation of a sacred space, I imagine that it would give an intimate sense of the presence of the divine, so I've always wanted to cast the circle for prayer and meditation. I've seen many detailed, practical instructions on casting the circle, but no one ever seems to want to discuss the immediate affects that the circle has. How do you feel when casting it? What exactly do you believe is occurring?

The effect varies from person to person and what thier need is, experience, beliefs, circumstances etc are.

Personally, when I cast my circle alone at home, I feel grounded, calm, centered and like I am within sacred space... a space without time, without trivial details, without dangers and with a sense of reverence and balance. I wouldn't call it ecstacy... that's a sensation that occurs upon direct communion with deity and happens very rarely (in my case). The divine energy is there, but it's not overwhelming most of the time. Think of a circle as feeling as if you are in a deep meditation, but also within physical reality.

What is occuring? I am being surrounded by protective energy and calling up, within myself, my own most powerful aspects, the spark of me that connects to deity and spirit, and becoming aware of those connections in a physical context, rather then ignoring them.

The circle in Wicca is not properly called a "Magick Circle." There are a number of very important differences between the circle (or temple rite) in Wicca and a circle in Ceremonial Magick, and the two aren't usually compatible.

As for how I feel: Reverent.

It's about purifying the area in preparation for communion with the divine: nothing more and CERTAINLY nothing less.

When *I* cast it, usually clean, balanced, more focused, slightly "lighter". When others cast around me, it depends on the caster. Since I am often training others I am watching for skylights and weak spots, so I will induce an awareness to the energy fluctuations which may leave me with a goose-flesh feeling. When "My Boys" (my previous and current High Priests) cast, I feel warm, cozy, and entirely safe and secure. (One casts a fireplace and a bear rug, the other casts a fort.)

I answered a similar question in the past and expanded upon it slightly in my blog: http://erisiantrubble.com/faq/how-can-i-tell-if-my...

When it's your first time casting the circle you feel your blood pressure rising a bit, you feel nervous of course, don't expect too much tho, casting the circle is one of the most basic things to do in the path.

in time, you will go from feeling rushed and a bit "drunk" to peace and a superior state of consciousness.

I feel a number of things. Balanced, calm, focused, high in energy, and most of all humbled.

I suggest you not follow others directions on how to cast it but do what feels right to you. It is your scared space, so make it yours.

    Honestly? High.

I don't really know how to describe it better than to me it feels like being high. It's a comfortably cushion-y feeling, like I just got kissed by my consort. Like I'm expanding from the inside out, but I don't ever feel like I'm about to burst, and it feels...like I'm high.
