Is there a silent setting for my phone?

Today I got the lg ally (I'm on it right now) and I was trying to set it up, and I was thinking of every morning I have to turn my phone to silent so it doesn't go off during school...so I tried to set the ally to silent, but it says the lowest volume setting is vibrate.

Please help?

    Get the tone picker app, make a short cut to it then it opens with a bunch of sliders to turn different types of volume on your phone :D

    You could check your profile settings, or switch off your phone at school ( it's almost the same as silent) XD
