How much pump power do I need?

I want to pump out the spring pond that forms yearly. It is perhaps 4-8 inches deep. I would need to send it up maybe 1 foot at most and out 100 feet to the street. Would 1/4 hp utility pump do it?

A 1/4 hp pump is plenty of power and capability. It should do the job easily.

It depends on the diameter of the hose, of course, but give it a try. You can probably use most any pump, but the larger the pump the faster the water gets pumped out. The 1/4 hp one sounds fine.
