Rhino Help!!! (offroading)?

K, just so you know..although offroading is my favorite thing to do in life..I dont know too much about mechanics so Im sorry if I dont understand you. But please (if you can) tell me what you think is wrong..cause then I can tell people who can explain it to me.

I have a rhino, (side-by-side is what I think it's also called). Almost a year ago it broke (we havent been able to afford to fix it yet.)

I was driving and my buddies and I were gonna go a loong ways, about 6 hours. There was a long streach at first where I was gunnin in the entire time..my mom mistakingly put it on low gear instead of high..she thought it said high.

After about 30 minutes it began to squeal and then it popped. then we stopped and were not able to start her up again. My friend said it was either the transmission or belt (but he just said that cause he said it happend to him.)

Well im tired of not being able to go riding anymore..so I wanna ask..do you think you know what happend, how to fix it, and possibly an approximate cost?? Thankyou(:

PS: I used to run the engine a bit just to warm her up, even though she couldnt move..but I didnt for a long time..and now she wont even start up for me. =/

yes it could be the belt but give model/year for more info ps most of those atv's have a engine kill switch built into the belt cover to prevent engine/clutch damage if the belt breaks please repost with more info
