Can anyone think of any good horror of thriller books?

Something that will keep you entertained and on edge through out the book. Also something that contains murders and discoveries. I have read the point horror and fear street books, so looking for something a little different. I'm also not so interested in ghosts and stuff because that can sometimes not be believable. Thank you very much! :)

    'Newes from the dead' !!!

I am not so much into thriller books and I don't remember why I picked this book but I'm glad I did. I couldn't put it down. It was seriously really amazing. I'll summarize it for you.

This book is actually based on a true story of a girl named Anne Green who was hanged back in the 16th century. She was very young and very poor. Reason for her hanging was that she was accused of killing her newborn child, and even when she tried to tell them that the baby was still-born, no one believed her and right before she was hanged, it is recorded in the papers that she said that God will tell them the truth (something like that I cant remember)

And her dead body was given to some Medical and Scientist people for dissection and study of human body. And so basically she is coming back to consciousness RIGHT ON THE TABLE !!! but she can't move. So she narrates her story and how she is remembering what had led her to her hanging etc...

Veeeryy interesting book..!!! I really hope you choose to read it.. It kept me hooked..

Oh and the Author's name is Mary Hooper.

I think Anthony Horrowitz writes some scary stories (funny his last name almost has horror in it). I've read some Nancy Drew ghost stories too. It was in one book.
