Comes Now the Power - Roger Zelazny

Also by Zelazny but no link - For a Breath I Tarry and also The Game of Blood and Dust.
Of course that is only a few ( none of the linked ones are more than a few pages.)
Edit, actually now that I think about it Comes now the power is more Fantasy than science fiction, Zelezny often straddles the line so I was only thinking of the author rather than the genera).

I've never been a big Sci-Fi reader, but I really enjoyed "The Martian Chronicles" by Ray Bradbury.
It is a book of short stories very loosely connected to each other.
Even though it was written in 1950 it still makes for good reading.

I liked John Wyndham. He wrote two good ones, "The Chrysalids" and "Day of the Triffids". I can't remember how long they were but vaguely think they were pretty short eg 150 pages. Not sure if that qualifies as a short story.

H.P. Lovecraft's book of short stories The Colour Out of Space was haunting and intriguing. They were slightly interconnected without being too obvious about it. Its the only Lovecraft I've read, but all of it has been recommended.
