I'm in a musical, and part of learning to act the part is a backstory..
The catch: My character works in a theater troupe. This particular troupe goes around, hiring men to play the lead. The point is that they try to get the lead to kill himself..
I'm struggling to come up with some story that wouldn't interfere with someone's conscience, traveling around the world getting young guys to kill themselves.
Does anyone have any ideas?

He/she's.... mad? Well, they'd have to be. Perhaps they were short on money, and really needed a job? And didn't know once until they'd joined? Or they've fooled themselves into thinking it's for a 'worthy cause'? Or they're just scared to leave?
I really don't know.
