A lag switch basically cuts the stream running through the cable and needs to be used as a cable i.e one end in your ps3 the other in your router/modem. and you play your games as normal. when you want to lag the game flick the switch. However keeping the switch closed for to long will result in disconnection from the game server. Your ps3 must also be set to use the ethernet cable as its default connection.
