What is the simple meaning of this zen koan....?

In one of the form of Buddhism, Zen Buddhism, the koans are used to train the spiritual aspirants/sadakas. Koan is a question or a statement which can not be answered or understood by rational means but accessible to intuition like, other than the one quoted by you, what is the sound of clapping by a single hand?

Buddha is checking the spiritual progress of Manjusri and Manjusri has passed that test.

If it were that simple, if there was just a 'right' answer somewhere and you could cheat by looking it up or asking others, the contemplation of koans wouldn't be such a big part of zen buddhism.

It's the contemplating that is the key, not getting the answer right.

The answer to any Zen koan is a shift in spiritual perception and cannot be expressed in the written word.

This is a great koan.

I interpret it to mean that you should look at things in a different way.

One man's floor is another man's ceiling.

It's meaningless. Isn't that the point?
