can i replace the fall on this bullwhip?

The fall on my grandfathers bullwhip is very old and tears a little bit more every time we use it. The fall is a continuation of one of the strands used in plating the overlay. Can i just sew a new fall on or do i have to get a completely different whip?

The best would be to unravel some of the plaiting, and add a new length of fall "back in the end of the whip" then re weave. If you just sew a new addition to the external part, it will break at the sewing joint.

Also you can try dipping the tip in melted beeswax to try revitalizing the leather
