Windows Vista or Windows 7?
I am looking for a reasonable laptop. I have a ton of Windows XP games. I will use my laptop mainly for playing games on vacations and for going on Google Chrome. So, which one should I get: Windows Vista or Windows 7?
Most of my games are NOT compatible with Windows 7.
Most of my games ARE compatible with Windows Vista!

Windows 7 is faster and less of a resource hog. And looks prettier. I'd get that. Especially since newer games will be windows 7 based.
There's compatibility modes for older versions of Windows, but I honestly don't think they work that well.

Well, Windows 7 is better and faster than Vista. But if you're gonna use your laptop for games that are compatible with Vista, I guess you should go with Vista.

Hello,
With Windows 7 as the standard, this is pretty much your only option with a new computer. However, if you have Windows XP programs that you'd like to use on Windows 7, consider going with Ultimate because you can install XP Mode.
Also, consider visiting the Windows 7 Compatibility Center to see which of your current programs are compatible http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/win...
Let us know if this helps.

In Windows 7, you can run applications in compatibility mode and emulate Windows XP, if you wish.
However if a program did once run in Vista, will most likely work in Windows 7.

You'll get, almost unanimously, votes for Windows 7. It truly is the better OS. Alot of your games will run on Windows 7. If you get Windows 7 Professional Edition they ALL will because it has a XP emulator to run them with.

Windows 7. Then get the downgrade (rights) for Vista - so you might be somewhat safe if you want to switch to 7 thereafter. Am I right people?
