Are bananas that are black inside safe to eat?

I thought I would use them to save them from going to waste. I was going to mash them and freeze them. A lot of them were black on the inside, but I've cut them bits off. Are they still safe to eat though?

Update:

They've been on the kitchen counter for about a week...

in my opinion you can trow those out, a very ripe banana should be dark brown on the outside but the inside should be in a deep yellow colour no spots of black if only a few are there remove them with a knife but don't use them .

freeze whole or mash and freeze use for pancakes, banana bread or muffins . The extra ripe are best for baking will react with soda or baking powder best.

If they have been left there for a while then they are probably gone off, or if they are just brown and quite fresh then there's nothing wrong with them!
