how to hook computer up to TV?

need to know if i can hook my computer up to my tv or not. The problem is i have an old TV.

The only way i know of is buying a s video cable BUT my computer DOESN'T have a hook up for it.

Is there any other type of cable i can buy? Some type of adapter to convert the s video to my computer?

THANKS

odds are your problem is the tv is too old to connect to vga, dvi, or hdmi. If thats the case you can buy a converter that converts your vga output to something your tv can use. Most connect to your computer the way a playstation(1 or 2) did. You can go to newegg.com and search for somthing like vga to tv converter. I ran this search just a secondago

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Sub...

Hope this helps. Not sure what connection can be made to your tv, but i hope this points you in the right direction.

Simplest way is a card with a TV out. Or a TV with a Input with a PC compatible plug. We use(at work) an NEC 40-60 inch screen, and its a regular Plasma TV, and the PC has a DVI splitter to two analogue ports.Or you can use a DVI to DVI single cable. All depends on your hardware. Sometime you need a middle junction box, sometimes the PC will plug right into the TV. Mostly if you have a HD tv its totally there.

From your description, the cable you need is the VGA to RCA/S-Video cable. All TVs made in the last 20 years have either the Composite Video input (RCA plugs, Red, White, Yellow) in addition to S-Video input (D-type, rounded 4 pins) or Component and HDMI inputs (you probably don't have these). So you will have to look for a cable with VGA MALE at one end and either RCA composite and/or S-Video at the other end and you are all set. You may also need a converter box to convert from VGA signals to RCA composite signals.

Hello, you can only hook your computer to most recent hdtv's, on the back there should be a pc monitor plug in, only on the recent tvs (HDTV, Flat Screen). You would have to get a new tv to do it. You can also get a projector.
