1.5 mile run possible in 2 months?
I am hoping to be able to complete a 1.5 mile run within 2 months. Currently, I'm about 30 pounds overweight (muscular frame, but it's not all muscle) and am struggling to get 3/4 of a mile before having to slow to a walk. Is it possible to double the distance I can run in just under two months time? How many times a week should I be running? (I want to run enough to improve, but not so much that I injure myself.)

I run about 2-3 miles a day. 1.5 miles isn't that far. It's probably what you are eating during the day that is slowing you down. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables the greener then better. I run 5 days out of a week and I lift one the final day, giving myself one day to eat whatever I want in small portions and take a break from exercise to let your body recuperate. I'm quite young and run for about 15 minutes a day which got me from 167 pounds overweight to 141 pounds perfect weight and below the average weight of a female my age. A perfect weight! If you have a goal, think about something inspiring when you run and just go for it! It's the part of knowing you are going to run that day that is hard. But 5 feet into the run and it's awesome!
Good luck and I hope this helps!

yes, in fact i have done something similar. its all based on the workouts you do. lets say you practice Monday through Saturday and take Sunday off. Monday you should run about 4- 8 miles at a good pace. don't kill yourself but don't walk. Tuesday run 800 meters as fast as you can. take a break for about 2 minutes repeat 3 more times. Wednesday do an easy run about 5 or 6 miles at an easier pace. end with 5 100 meter sprints. Thursday run 400 meters as fast as you can 6 times with a 1 1/2 minute break. Friday do another run about 4-8 miles at a nice easy pace. Saturday do another long run. go for a time, like 45 minutes, but not slow. If you continue this routine then you would run the 2 miles for time on a Tuesday. Good luck. I know you can do it. BTW its easiest to do with friends.

Sure you can do it - just add no more than 10% of your distance every week. so if you are up to 3/4 of a mile every day then you can add about 1/8th of a mile to your next week. then add 1/4 of a mile then add 1/2 mile each to your longest run. do this every week to your longest run. you will be up to 1.5 miles in no time!

Absolutely. There are various free "couch to 5K" programs online. 1.5 miles is half a 5K run. Don't worry about your time or walking/jogging/running -- just move forward.

Quit typing and get running fat boy. I'm betting it's 30lbs of fat. It's not about can you, it's will you. It's mental. 1.5 is short, and I hate running, and never do. Sprints are better.
