I am thinking of taking a Cruise and I am wondering if there are beaches at Kona or Hilo?

We would be staying for 1 day and 2 niights in Honolulu then on with the cruise. We will get some beach time there and were wondering at some other ports if there are beaches there--specifically Hilo or Kona?

Yes, the big island has lots of beaches, so just google Kona. I remember snorkeling with turtles there, but don't remember the name of the beach, just that there are plenty.

Are you planning on going out on your own once you get there? If so, then you can take a taxi to the most popular beach on Hawaii's west coast. Situated about 30 miles north of Kona, Hapuna beach is one of Hawaii's prettiest white sand beaches. It has excellent swimming conditions with crystal-clear, warm, shallow water. There is a rock formation almost directly in front of the main pathway that can be a good warm-up for snorkelers. I saw a few fish and a sea turtle swimming around there.

Another good beach (and not a very populated one) is the Anaeho'omalu Bay beach by the Marriott up in Waikoloa (18 miles north of Kona). Though it is near a resort, parking is still free. This is a great, shady park with plenty of sand and more excellent swimming conditions. If you take some time to walk out along the peninsula, you will definitely see some green sea turtles.

I wrote an article about my time on the Big Island. Hope it helps you. Enjoy your trip!
