What is the major difference between America and China?

I suppose the major difference between America and China is, America has a South America while China do not have South China. Is there any possible to built a South China, China's South America, based on ASEAN countries, if China want to be a superpower as America? What is your opinion?

Your right, that's the only difference.

I think the main difference is in the price of delivered lunches. Try getting Wonton Soup and Bellpepper Beef with rice delivered to your office for 1.30 US Dollars in the US, and that difference becomes quite evident.

Apart from that, I think China will not be interested in its own equivalent to South America, because it is historically an inward-looking country, and focused on building up its own structures rather than "exporting" its system abroad. If anything, China may, in future decades, when salary levels have become forbiddingly high for continued mass manufacturing, farm out some assembly processes to places like Vietnam and possibly even India, whose salaries will be lower. So, there would be that economic side of it, but I think the times when China was into exporting ideologies are now over. The US though continue to meddle in Latin American affairs politically on top of having the odd assembly plant going (Chrysler Mexico, etc.). Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Mexican Chryslers, but I think nations should be allowed to follow their own course - ask around Uruguay and Panama or Colombia, among others, and they may have the odd swearword to say about the US.

Geez, Chan, you are coming out of left field with this one.

    1) The only relationship between N. America and S. America is a geographical reference. Thus, there is no need to create a South China. Especially since ANYTHING with the word "China" on it would be assumed by the PRC/CCP to be "a part of China". One needs look no further than Taiwan (R.O.C) and the PRC Constitution to see this fact.

    2) One major difference between the two countries is that a high percentage of non-caucasians are citizens of the USA; in China, there are relatively very few non-asian citizens. Sort of makes me wonder how many decades it will take until we see a "black" leader installed in China...

    3) China can (best) become a superpower WITHOUT the process of taking over the lands of other people and claiming such as part of their country. The USA did it, although the acquisition of Hawaii was a little suspicious, possibly serving as a role model the Chinese are following, as in "Move a lot of your people there, teach the locals your language and customs, and once you have them suficiently outnumbered, ask for a democratic vote of 'the people'."

  • I think what you mean to say is that if the major difference between the USA and the P.R of China.

America is in sense you describing a continent(s), China is a country.

The mean difference is the advancement of both technology and social culture. Without it the USA would not be as powerful as today.

I don't think there will be a South China not unless the P.R.C breaks into two. Also other ASEAN countries would not want to lose their national identity becoming 'South Chinese' just as much as Chinese today would want to lose their identity.

If you're referring to South America and China, there is no comparison here because South America is considered a continent itself, the United States of America is one of the 3 countries within the continent of North America.

If you mean the country of America, short for United States of America, the biggest difference is American people openly criticize their local, federal government, top leaders all the time, and can vote for their representatives and president. Chinese people are not able to.
