Does an insult in the added details not have the same import as an insult in the body of a question?

Recently I reported two questions where the questioner used foul and offensive language against one of the people who answered the question. Does it really matter where the insult is posted. Is there any reason why these questions are not deleted.

Update:

I would hope that someone from Staff might address this question.

An insult is a violation wherever it is posted, even if it is in the asker's comment after choosing best answer.

The thing to do is copy/paste the insult to the additional details box on the report page. They don't seem to be able to find the violations on their own.

Another reason it may not have been deleted is the community moderation system is not always working.

You may have better luck getting a staff response by posting on the suggestion board.

It should not matter whether the insult is posted in the question itself or in the details, as long it is reported with enough details for the staff to react upon right away. In reality though CM (community moderation) experiences some problems over the weekends when hardly anybody is at work in the Yahoo offices and spammers and scammers are flooding YA with their junk. It looks as if sometimes the servers are so busy with taking care of the spam flood that priority is given to those reports. In some cases the active users on the Spam Battle Thread even noticed that priority was given to spam answers and that spam questions were left online until staff was back from the weekend.

2: Staff itself rarely reads what's posted on YA, you might want to take the matter up to the Suggestion Board though because that's where such matters can be discussed. The staff also drops by frequently and answers questions posted by users. Here's the link to the SB: http://suggestions.yahoo.com/?prop=answers

It has always been my understanding that insulting other users is a violation ... period.

No matter whether the insult/rant is in the question, the added details, or an answer. According to the community guidelines, name calling, profanity, disrespect, and calling out others by username for the purpose of verbally abusing them are not permitted and should be a violation every time.

Apparently the guidelines don't apply to everyone. At least 9 users THAT I KNOW OF have reported a question such as the one you describe, and it's still there. Y!A has been emailed about that question ... and it's still there. The asker of that question has treated others to the same abuse, and his other (reported) questions are ... still there.

I'm baffled on this issue, too.

A violation is a violation, no matter where within a question (or answer) it occurs.

Near as I can tell community moderation is broken and only working some of the time lately, having reported blatantly offensive stuff that still remains. And I know some of it has been reported by lots of people besides myself. Yahoo, if you're listening (which I doubt), you need to fix this because people are getting fed up.

And even writing to the y_answrs_team@yahoo.com has zero effect. Apparently they don't even read their emails so I would not expect them to answer your question here.

It should be treated exactly the same. But although some users think that 1 person reporting a violation works it doesn't, even though it says in the guidelines if 1 - 2 report abuse it will be acted upon it seldom does not unless more than 2 report it in some instances.
