1996 Nissan Pickup reliability?

I am considering buying a 1996 Nissan Pickup (manual) with 136,000 miles. The interior&exterior are in good shape and the car runs smoothly. If I have a mechanic check it out and he gives it an OK, should I buy it? The truck is very basic, but all I want is reliability. These trucks have great consumer reviews, but I would like more input. How reliable are these trucks? Before any serious problems occur, how many miles can I expect out of it if I do the recommended maintenence? Thanks.

i would get it nissan makes solid 4 cylinder engines and if you do go newer they make good v6 ones as welllike the one my 98 nissan pathfinder had it never gave me any issues in 2.5 years and 35k miles when i got it it had 120k when it was totaled 155k with 136k on it if it has been taken care of well and you take care of it as well (normal maintenance oil changes ect) then i would say you could get 150k or more out of it nissans are solid and in my mind the best cars on the road do research at the sites i will source in the sources section for reliable reviews professional and general public ratings and reviews

Source(s): experience, mechanic, heres the sites autos.msn.com, www.edmunds.com, autos.yahoo.com this should help do your research this is my expereince and opinion so research to see if my opion is mirrored by others

4 Cly 2.5 liter 4 speed automatic trans truck are kind of slow. Regular cab trucks small inside and unconfortable on long drives. 1996 was 15 years ago you never know how many times that truck was forced to do to much work. You want reliability buy a New truck only you have driven. Newer 2004 Nissan Frontier trucks have stronger chassis and better 5 speed automatic transmissions and 4.0 liter V-6 available 7,000 pounds towing.

I don't quite learn about more recent cars seeing that the one one that i've form of labored on was a 1986 jeep. IF it has a carburetor, it should have a screw on the facet that units the idle velocity. When it is tightened, it makes the vehicle idle at a better rpm, or the other way around, elevating the idle velocity will have to hold it from turning off at the same time not moving. Anyway, im no longer quite certain, that used to be the trouble on le jeep.
