what is better than a kicker cvx?
i've been woofer window shopping for a good little while, and it seems everyone thinks kicker cvx is the best all around subwoofer........but everyone has a kicker cvx. i'm looking for something different, something louder, something with more quality AND spl. i was lookin at fi, or ssa,or aq audio. those were the names i've been stuck on since i started looking a couple years ago. and if you have review on all or some of these i'd really appreciate it. i want to have some "mile away" bass (not just rattle) plus heart warming quality and the closest to bone chilling power...plus maybe try to keep it as close to 200 as poosible. any ideas?

i would either do an audioque sd2.5, a sundown sa series or a dc audio level 3. all of those will outperform a cvx.

I got a old skool kicker comp 15 that I get pulled over for all the time bc cops hear me for a half mile away coming, other then that go with memphis bc those also kick ***! I power my kicker with a memphis amp n memphis compacitor, also get a sub that is high power rated n get a good size amp to flex that sub, don't forget to use great wiring kit so the power can be handled. o n always try to buy off ppl not shops to save money. I bought off ppl n saved, compacitor was 50$, kicker sub was 20$, box was 20$, n amp was 100$. O an alpine ain't bad just get the R had S but R handles more power

If you are looking for an SPL sub only...get the MTX Jack Hammer. Powered by one JBL 6000 GTI amp.
If you have a lot of $$$ to spend (like ALL of us do...lmfao) I would recommend these two items. Keep in mind...ALL of you power needs must be upgraded. The most important upgrade would be an H.O. (High Output) Alternator...220+ amps. When upgrading the alt, I would recommend a 1/0 ga. wire with a max ANL fuse size of 250 amps. The "BIG 3" (using 1/0 ga wire) is also another must.
Get a dual ANL fuse block (made for the engine bay)...one 1/0 ga wire from the battery pos. to the fuse block (withing 18 in.), 1/0 ga wire to amp the other 1/0 ga wire to the alt.
I did the same set up for my audio system (engine bay not audio...reason...$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$). :-)

- Also check this out http://www.youtube.com/ and all related videos...Look for the guy in the blue collared shirt. Type “car audio systems” in the search engine. He gives a lot of very good info.
If your headlight dims with the bass notes, the “BIG 3” might work. If not an H.O. alternator will be needed, or else be prepared to pour a lot of $$$ for batteries.
This site explains the "BIG 3" upgrades.

I've designed my car for SQ (Sound Quality) not SPL (Sound Pressure Level) my imaging is very good. The bass sounds as if it is up front and my 12 inch sub (picture as shown) in the trunk. I LOVE how it all worked out.
GOOD LUCK and have fun…

first u must dynomat the trunk for starters so budget that in. and the time.
U should head to an actual stereo shop and hear them for yourself. I live in NYC, many many brands round here and especially at the auto shows in nearby NJ raceway track.
My personal favorites, depending on power:
polk sr, diamond audio D3, rockford T1, RE Audio SEX, XXX, JL audio w3's or w7, Fi, Boston Acoustics (more for sq), and many more.
