"A California school teacher was placed on paid administrative leave after he rattled a table to get the attention of his math students, startling an eighth-grade girl who used her cell phone to call police.
Atherton police Sgt. Tim Lynch tells the Palo Alto Daily News that officers went to Selby Lane School Tuesday afternoon because of reports a teacher was causing a disturbance.
Officers found a calm teacher with class in session.
The sergeant says the teacher's table-rattling startled a student and she used her cell phone to call 911. He says other students in the class weren't bothered by the teacher's actions."...

take the phone away... she's obviously not responsible enough to have one
they taught is not to call 911 unless it's an emergency in kindergarten. she should really know by now

If she doesn't have sense enough to know what a real, true emergency is, then she doesn't have sense enough to have a phone. The phone would go and she would be made to volunteer at a local organization (fire dept., police dept.) washing their cars and trucks or just picking up trash to make up for calling them out for no good reason and wasting their time and tax money. I would also make her write a letter of apology to the teacher, 911 operator and the police department.

No more phone that's for sure, I would almost make it a point to ban phones from being in class, this really is rediculous. If the teacher sees it then it goes in their desk and they can get it back at the end of the day, I don't see why teenagers need to have a cell phone in class anyways.

I did not go and read it but she would be in big trouble for doing such a thing.
