Darwin is an eight year old 17.1H bay thoroughbred gelding with a star. He looks like a model, with legs up to his ears and a very feminine face. Darwin is not the most athletic of horses, and I don't jump him for fear of him literally breaking a leg. Case in point -- two weeks ago I was free lunging him in the outdoor ring. A simple x-rail was set up in the corner that he could have easily gone around. Instead he panicked, jumped it with both front legs locked straight out together, crash landed afterwards and rolled through the board rail fence.

I got Darwin four years ago from a man who rescued him directly off the racetrack. After I brought him home I looked up his race record -- in the period of two years he had accumulated a grand total of $165 in winnings.

Darwin goes outside during the day and has a box stall at night. If he is not brought in PROMPTLY at 3:00PM every day he will begin racing the fence line at a full gallop until someone "rescues" him from the terror of being outside at 3:01PM.

Despite being the tallest horse at the barn, Darwin is the epitome of a gentle giant. He loves children and will give them hugs or nibble at their hair. He enjoys his daily playtime out in the field with Harry, his four year old QH friend, and they love their King of the Hill game, hiding halters in the run in sheds, and chewing each others blankets to smithereens.

Darwin is absolutely terrified of the following: ponies, golf carts, the white hay shed he has to go past every day, palomino horses, paint horses, gray horses, the blue bench on the side of the outdoor ring, the indoor ring in its entirety, pigeons (literally -- just pigeons, any other type of bird is fine), being left out past 3PM, water, cross ties, and (most of all) when he is forced to endure the terror of being ridden outside the ring.

And that, in a nutshell, is Darwin. :)

    Ella's a 10 going on 11 year old solid Paint mare. She's a liver chestnut with a large blaze and 4 socks. She's 15.1hh.

I ride just english on the flat, I'll be starting western soon and I've been thinking about starting to jump with her (I never could with my old horse, so I'm VERY rusty jumping wise).

We bought her from a man who sold her because she couldn't do the level of team penning that he wanted to do, and before that she showed on the hunter circuit.

She lives out 24/7, she doesn't like being kept in over night even though we're in eastern Ontario. She also doesn't get ant grain, she's chubby right now so she doesn't need it.

She's very sweet most of the time, but she gets greedy with her food out in the paddock. She and the two Shetlands in her paddock are always together, which I find really cute.

She absolutely hates the indoor arena, whenever we go in it to ride she has little hissy fits, she's wonderful outside though. She's also not a fan of puddles, she'll refuse to walk through, until you let her jump over them.

    She loves her neck scratched.

I have 4 horses but my favorite will always be Poco.

    Name: Poco's Starlight

    Breed: Saddlebred/Quater

    Color: Black/white paint

    Height:16.1

    Age: 32 years 4 months

Now days, she is a pasture mare, actually she has been since she turned 22. I have had her most of my life. We got her when she was under a year old. When we got her we found out some guys had stabbed her in the hind quarter, just to get back at the owner who had just fired them. The wound healed properly, but you could always tell where the wound was because the Paint line didn't heal back together. It was zigged. She was always my favorite to ride, because she had one of those dream gaits. Yes she is a great grand-daughter to Poco Bueno.

When I showed her, It was mostly in Western pleasure and Trail.

I never had a problem with Poco until one day I was out trail riding in an new area and we came across a pasture full of sheep. I believe she crawled out of of skin. She freaked out. So I had to get off of her and walk her slowly over to the fence and show her there was nothing to be afraid of. From that day forward, I would always make sure to ride passed the sheep pasture, even if it was out of

the way. She finally got used to them.

Poco is the Alpha of the herd. She keeps the others in line.

She had a habit of stealing my cans of Coke. She preferred a handful of Coca-Cola more than her apple and carrot treats.

    Name: BDF Malcom Locke

    Age: 15

Gender: Gelding(used to be a stallion)

    Color: dun

    Height: 14.1hh

    Breed: Norwegian Fjord

Dicipline: Pleasure, Low Level Dressage, Trail

History: Malcom was born in Nova Scotia(i forgot exactly what barn) When he was ver young, he had an accident of a sort that permanently damaged his leg. The cause is still to this day unknown. The original owners were not sure that he was going to make it and if he did, if he would even be able to walk. A couple in ohio decided to take a chance on him and bought him. they trained him to be ridden, and bred him. They taught his offspring to ride, drave and anything else they could think of. Another couple in California bought him where they bred and raised fjords to ride in low level dressage shows. They gelded him when he was 13 to add him to their lesson horses and that's where I found him :)

Due to him injury from when he was little, he permanently favors his right hind leg. He's not off(lame), but it's just how he moves.

Lifestyle: He lives in a 12x24 away from the mares(he still sometimes thinks hes a stallion) and has a huge tree shading most of his corral

Likes/Dislikes: well... he likes food.... haha and Nika(his favorite mare of course) He hate's random loud noises(like most normal horses) and he absolutely hates Napenthe(the dutch warmblood gelding where I board him) I'm not sure why. But they just don't like eachother.

And that was my horses information haha :)

Her name is Belle, she's 12-13. She's a "silver" (chocolate dappled body with flaxen mane and tail) and she's an ungaited rocky mountain quarter horse mix. 15.2 hands. I do eventing (show jumping, dressage, cross country) I bought her from a stable. Well technically it was a lady's horse, but we didn't meet her, as she broke her back falling off another horse. So a trainer at the barn she was kept sold her to us. She was a western trail horse thy was starting English riding and was doing cavalettis. She had been sold once before me, because her first owner kept her till she was 4, and as she wasn't gaited, he bred her to get a gaited foal and sold her. When I tried her out I hated her Bc she was so lazy! But my non horsey mom bought her Bc she was pretty...hahaha it all worked out, though she turned into a runaway Speed racer when I brought her home...She lives outdoors in a nice paddock unless it's bad weather, ten she comes into her stall (she is boarded) she is very spunky. She is very sweet, greedy, aggressive towards most horse. She gets very excites when she sees jumps, and her ears prick up. She also loves trail rides and water. Sh is scared of almost nothing, besides the click if the electric fence and miniature ponies. Not kidding! Every time she sees one she looks at it sideways and starts snorting and tries to run away! It's so funny!!! She chews on everything and scratches herself on everything. Sorry for the book!! Ahah(:

    Name: Mithril Vincent (Vince, Buddy)

    Age:1997

    Gender: Gelding

    Breed: Welsh sect. B

    Colour: Dapple Grey

    Height: 12.3

Discipline: English (pretty much just pleasure riding at the moment, but he was a show pony, and we did hacking, dressage, showjumping, cross country and pony club as well as just pleasure riding at home)

History: I bought him after using him to compete at state dressage (team of four) when he was 5.

Lifestyle: I keep him in a medium sized paddock with my other two horses/ponies and sometimes I put him in my fenced backyard after riding or if I need to catch him early in the morning. He lives out 24/7. I live in Australia so it doesn't really get cold enough to warrant more than a rug for Vince especially as we aren't competing anymore.

Characteristics: He bucks and bolts if he isn't ridden frequently.

    Likes: Food

Dislikes: Scared of livestock (despite being kept in a paddock with 30 cows), Petrified of moving livestock.
