Car Help? Looking for reasonably priced cars with some power?

I'm looking for a good car for around 9000-12000. I want a car with at least 200hp, newer then 2003 but doesn't have mechanical issues. I really like the 2006-07 Mazda RX8's, but I know they have pretty bad engine problems because they were newly developed rotary engines when they came out in the first RX8's in 2004. I know some people will laugh when I say this, but I want some moderate power.........but also automatic. I never have and never will like a manual, that's just how I am. I've looked at RX8's, s2000's(which I hate) 350z's, and Nissan Maximas. I like the look and the power and the price of the RX8, but the problems make the other cars look better even if they cost another grand or two. I'm really looking for a car that won't need a lot of money put into it, unless it's upgrades that I want. I'm really looking for some suggestions/help into what cars I might be missing out there that fit my criteria. I feel like if I go with the RX8, it'll be great for the first year MAYBE, then I'll have to replace the engine which will cost almost as much as the car. SUGGESTIONS PLEASE..... Here is my point of view.. Ive had a 2003 350z touring manual trans.. Loved the car! But hydroplaned it and totaled it.. The only probs i had with the car is the window motor burned up.. That's all.. The motor is like a tank.. Suspension, traction, grip, bose sound system, comfort, love to travel in it, and the SOUND! Nothing sounds like a Z.. The sound makes 80% of people become a neck breaker..

Now i have a 2007 350z grandtouring with the HR motor, 306 hp stock, automatic, brembo brakes, handsfree bluetooth, bose, xm radio, forged rays rims from factory, leather seats heated seats, all the oem z floor mats the z back pack for the seat, aftermarket exhaust, duel aftermarket fujita intakes, tinted windows, HID bi-functional xenon headlamps, all kinds of stuff, anyways, the power is AMAZING! V8 mustangs, rx8's, s2000's dont stand a chance against a stock 350z HR's..

Everybody that has a 350z loves it.. we are like packs of wolves on the street, looking for a prey, i gave up stunt riding sportbikes after i test drove my first 350z.. It is an addiction that i have.. But if you get a 350z TRUST ME you wont be disappointed! My girlfriend and i just went on a thousand mile trip and enjoyed every minute of it, if i could i would travel the world in it.. but dont have the time...... Make sure you get VDC vehicle dynamic control.. If i would have had it on i would have never hydroplaned my first Z.. VDC enhanced vehicle stability and improved performance in emergency avoidance maneuvers regardless of the road surface or weather conditions. Working with the antilock and traction-control systems, VDC reduces engine torque or apply individual brakes as necessary to stabilize the car under severe cornering situations. For example, if the car were understeering in a turn, VDC could reduce throttle and apply the brake to an outside rear wheel to bring it back to the my intended path. Or if the car were oversteering, VDC could brake an inside front wheel to correct the potential fishtail and bring the car back into line. This feature helped me make the 350Z more of an all-occasion, all-weather car. With such a technological backstop, i could relax and enjoy the performance of the car a bit more. The car is by far the BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK BY ALL MEANS!!! (My opinion) And all my friends that are proud owners!

The engine in the rx8 is just the newest version of the rotary they did not come out in 2004. As long as you maintain it properly and premix you fuel you should not have a problem. Even if you do have a problem the engine has a 8yr/100k mile warranty on it, just make sure to keep oil change receipts. Try and buy one privately from someone who has kept records of all maintenance.

The rx8 is 232bhp but only about 180-190 whp. If you are considering one get a compression test done BEFORE you buy the car, to save you from buying one that's already broken.

Look around http://www.rx8club.com/ and search and read everything you can before making your choice.

This is the most important part right here, if you buy an rx8 make sure its a 2006+ model or you will be getting the 4 speed autotragic transmission which is a POS. I personally would not buy an automatic rx8 as they dont rev up to 9k rpm's(I think they top at 7500) and that's half the fun of driving one.
