    shall we assume that the homologous chromosomes have heterozygous alleles. for this reason, the two pairs may well be AaBb. The ensuing haploids cells may well be AB, Ab, aB, and ab. With 3 pairs, the genotype may well be AaBbCc and the ensuing haploid cells may well be ABC, ABc, AbC, aBC, Abc, aBc, abC, and abc. So, 4 cells for 2 pairs and eight cells for 3 pairs.
