Internet Explorer 9 will not install.?
First off I feel stupid even asking this because I know alot about pcs and have been building them for years. However, since I built this new gaming rig with Windows 7 I have had a host of issues to sort out. Today I got a new one. I foung out that IE9 was out so I went to download it. It downloads fine and of course tells you you need to restart. It does the normal Configuring Windows Updates things befiore it shuts down. Then after restarting it goes to the Configuring Windows Updates thing again. This time, however, it say something along the lines of Failure to configure new updates. Do not turn of your computer. Then it restarts one more time, does this again, and then lets me back to my desktop. I tried to install 3 times and it did the same thing. I even checked my version and it is still IE8. I tried to get in touch with Microsoft but have fun with that. You pay 200 bucks for an OS and they can't even give you the slightest bit of tech support. Cheap ******* bastards. I so wish I could still use XP. If it wasn't for the lack of Direct X 10 and 11 I would uninstall this shitty bastard in a second. Sorry for the language. I am just sick of this OS already.
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Also I have tried Google Chrome and its kinda pathetic. Too plain for my tastes. I like browsers with flair. Chrome is like the plain white walls in a hospital. Just can't look at them for long before they annoy me. Firefox is a great browser and I do use that along with IE. None of these answers solve the problem though. Can I get someone in here with some actual pc knowlege that can help me get to the root of the installation issue? Also while IE9 doesn't technically come out until the 24th of this month the copy you download now is the final release condidate. It says so right on it.
@Srafim----I have SP 1. I turned off UAC the day after I first built this pc cuz it was ridiculously annoying. I did a System Restore the right after it did it first time and its a no go. Also when you download IE it installs both the x86 and 64 bit versions automatically. I found out that this is a widespread problem on the MS support forums and it only happens with people running 64 bit versions(but doesn't always happen, many with 64 bit OS were able to install just fine). Microsoft knows about the issue and says they are working on a solution. It has something o do with not recognizing the 64 bit OS on startup apparently.

Update:
I have been looking for you on the internet :D I found this ms website http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2409098/en-us
I also found a site that is pretty interesting and explains everything...at the comment section i also found this.
To make IE64 default browser:
Rename %systemdisk% program files (x86)/Internet Explorer in something like Internet Explorer32.
Copy in %systemdisk%/program files (x86) the folder Internet Explorer that comes from %systemdisk% program files
I have put the site in the source box.
I hope this helps, i know how annoying it can be when you want to install something on your computer and it wont work
Good luck and let me know if it works out
First restore your system to a point before you installed explorer 9. Then go to the configuration screen, choose usseraccounts -> choose usseraccounts again. At the bottem you will find the option change settings of user account (i have to translate this from dutch, so i hope it is clear) chuck the left button all the way down, so it wont ask you permission evertime you want to install a program (i come across this allot of times and if its activated you get allot of trouble when installing) Make sure you have the servicepack 1 for windows 7 installed. (this can help aswell)
then download the IE 9 and make sure you have the 64 bit version. Then try installing it again.
On an other note i love windows 7...but i have the proffesional version of it. Its not so heavy as XP and my computer runs beautifully on it (have to say that in the beginning i had allot of bluescreens but after several updates from microsoft....that was gone)
If you need any help you can send me an email and if yo ulike i can help you with crossloop
