What is a good Tolkien-style fantasy series?
I just want a good fantasy series. Warhammer has actually seemed kinda' interesting. I like stuff similar to LotR and whatnot. Old World style. Stuff with elves and dwarfs and dragons, blahblah. Any suggestions?
P.S: I do not want to read Eragon. :P

It's an oldie but if you like that kind of thing you will love it, it's a must-have for a fantasy book collection. Personally I thought it was banal geek-fodder in some chapters but I have to admit that overall it's one of the best fantasy novels ever written. The sequels grate on my nerves but the first book in the series is a worthy read.
Daughter Of The Empire. This was a co-op work by the same author and Janny Wurts. http://crydee.sai.msu.ru/REF/bookcovers/Daughter_o...
Again, the sequels made me cringe in some chapters but the first book in the series is something special. I've read it THREE times! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daughter_of_the_Empir...

Oddball story about a leper who finds himself transported to another World he does not believe is real where he is hailed as a kind of Messiah. The author must have been smoking way too much weed because some of the story is far too hippy-trippy and just dumb where the author obviously thought he was being clever... but what can I say? I read the entire trilogy and it kept me up until 1am on many nights.

If you are going to read warhammer books I suggest reading books by Dan Abnett or Graham McNeil. Warhammer fantasy obviously is most similar to Tolkien fantasy while 40k is Tolkien fantasy in space. If you go the 40k route I suggest the Horus Heresy novels. You can find them at http://www.blacklibrary.com/
