What position should i play in Basketball?
Hey everyone:
My name is Nick and i'm wondering if you can help me decide what position i should play in an organized game/ league. I play with my friends in the street and pick up games and i am looking to maybe play D3 basketball if i can. I know the positions in basketball but i never really picked one that is what i should play because in our pick up games we just go with it. I think i should be a power forward, but i would like our input on what i should play.
I'm 6'2" and 220 pounds
My 3 point shooting is eh okay. I can make some shots but its definetly not my strength.
Middle range jumpers i can knock down consistently but they are not always pretty.
Inside the paint and down low, i almost never miss.
I am a decent rebounder, but vertical jump is not the greatest.
I play very agressive defence and i am not afraid to get rough to stop my man, No matter whom gaurding i try to make it rough for them to even move around.
My ball handling is not good. i can do the crossover, but other than i got nothing.
Based on this i'm wondering what you think i should i play?
Also i'm wondering if you think that i have a chance to play D3 basketball
I'm looking at D3 basketball, so keep in mind that the players are smaller. I'm also a junior in high school. Thanks

What up Nick,
Based on your self-description it sounds like you are a shooting guard or small forward.
Your strength is the 3 point shot and you have admittedly said you are not a great ball handler. Based on your size 6 foot 2 220 lbs you should probably be a shooting guard but your 220 lbs could possibly enable you to be a post- although you would struggle being a SF by giving up inches on the defensive end. At 6 foot 2 perhaps lose a few pounds it'll help you be a quicker shooting guard or small forward.
Good luck.

In the NBA you would be point guard because of your height but in D3 basketball you would probably be small foward.

I feel on safety u can both play middle or small ahead, given that ur beautiful tall and u mentioned that ur a well defender so might be u can block photographs. on offense u can play capturing defend, given that u can shoot the ball quite good.
