does quarters cause ovarian and testicular cancer?
hi i've been reading that copper toxicity from quarters can cause ovarian and testicular cancers is this true there are many studies coming up this is not ogood
yes i also found this, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copper_toxicity#Cance...

My father died of testicular cancer and he worked in a bank. That's completely irrelevant but if what you're claiming is true then perhaps it may help explain how he got it.

I agree with "Denisedds" as usual.
Think about this.
Why would any university or other research group spend the money and time
to do a study looking for the cancer causing effects of handling quarters ?
How would you quantify the amount of time a person held quarters
next to his or her skin?
You would have to know the amount of quarter copper exposure and skin uptake
to measure that against the incidence of ovarian and testicular cancers.
It would take many years of observing your cohort of patients to assess
whether the incidence of these malignancies was statistically higher
in quarter handlers with higher levels of absorbed copper.
Of course you could simulate copper exposure in laboratory rats or mice,
but those data would have little relationship to humans handling quarters.
I doubt the NCI or any funding agency would award a grant to make this study.
Also - Think also about this. We believe that cigarette smoking causes
over 31% of all cancer deaths in the U.S.
Looking for a relationship between handling quarters and just two cancer types
when we already know the worst culprit for cancer incidence and deaths,
is missing the forest for a few trees.
Once people stop smoking and causing their own cancers,
then perhaps we can worry about the small things.

I see from the added information you have supplied that you have done your homework. It is amazing to me that people spend so much money, time and effort looking for minor cancer causes when the cause that is most deadly is so obviously the main problem to our community health is well known.

I've actually been looking into this after a friend told me about it. I didn't think it was likely but after some research apparently it is. There are some good articles here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC295311...

I've been wondering about this as well. I actually tend to use LOTS of change (including quarters) because I'm too freaking lazy to convert them to bills. This is pretty shocking actually, and I'm sure they knew the risks of this situation long before now. Why would they continue to mint them?

Yes new studies have proven there is a clear link. Stop carrying them in your pocket.

No they don’t and there are no studies regarding this as it is ridiculous.
