Quarters giving people testicular cancer?
I read a study a very short while ago about how carrying quarters in your pocket can cause testicular cancer. Is this true? I tend to carry quarters around whenever I travel (somewhat addicted to gum balls, lol) and I'm wondering if I should see a doctor.
Here's one of the articles I read:
Okay, now I'm scared. I'm going to the doctor, will be back in a few hours. Lucky day off, eh?
God damn.
What the hell?
Is this some sort of conspiracy? Who deleted the article? Who the hell is trying to censor this?! This is important information, and I would rather not be left in the dark! Someone find out who is covering this up.

Yeah....no you didn't read that. And that article you posted says nothing about it. So to answer, no it isn't true..

Too late answering this question. This is true OP.
Quoting wiki:
A recent study at a top London University has discovered that the Cupric Oxide that forms the outer layers of copper coins over time could be a major cause of testicular cancer in men. Using computer-controlled robots to simulate the various types of movements that humans undergo daily, a team of Kinesiologists and Biochemists observed that the constant friction between a human’s leg and even a minute amount of Cupric Oxide on the exterior layers of a quarter can cause the powdery substance to rub into the skin of the thigh, where it is absorbed into the bloodstream. Unbound copper at incorrect oxidation states in the bloodstream poses many significant threats to human health, and has been shown to accumulate in the liver, kidneys and testicles.
Studies conducted on mice show imbalances of copper, particularly Cu3+ from cupric acid, causes disruption in the electron transport chain in the cells of the tissues where they accumulate. By interfering with oxidation and reduction reactions between various cytochrome proteins in the membrane of the mitocondrion, oxygen is not properly reduced, producing dangerous free radicals such as superoxide and hydroxide ions.

These guys sure seem to think so. I'm undecided until I see further evidence, but for now it looks like a distinct possibility this is true.

Yes, there have been recent studies conducted that link copper to testicular cancer. I'd watch out if I were you.

I've allso heard about this. Does anybody know if there are any studies on European coins containing copper? Or am I safe as long as I don't handle US currency?
