What annoys me about Carrie Underwood! (for Kali S)?

Carrie Underwood is a great singer... in my opinion 90% of her quality as a singer is hitting the high note... that's her "money shot" as they say. Though you can't deny...she does have great legs... She was lucky enough to be chosin by American Idol and then even luckier to be chosin as a winner on there... I believe the equation goes as follows... NO AMERICAN IDOL = NO CARRIE UNDERWOOD.(period)

I believe she records the type of songs she records because she and her record company are trying to give her an "edge"... and to give her some "depth"... to make her more interesting.

She is a perfect little angel who's most likely never done anything wrong in her entire life... and that doesn't interest anyone other than her mom and dad...

So......

to really get people's attention she's gonna have to play the "SEX CARD" and show some skin (IE : the legs).... or she's gonna have to sing about sex or something...(IE: her songs where she assumes a different persona)...

She's another one ....who, without her cute little face, blonde hair and sexy legs... would just be another girl working as a dental assistant, singing Karaoke at the local bar/restaurant, belting out Aretha Franklin songs to her friends, while they all get drunk on margaritas....

At least Carrie can actually sing....

Taylor Swift can't claim that much.. and would'nt make it passed the first round of American Idol...

If someone sings a good song, I could care less about their personal life.Im not a Carrie Underwood fan, but people do songs that sell.That's whats wrong with a lot of today's country music.Country music used to be songs that came from the heart, the person would sing about true events.Now (and for years) they sing about whatever sells, and it doesn't matter at all to them, or their fans, if it doesn't sound like country.Carrie Underwood, and many others are ''not'' genuine country, but that's what their label is, and THAT'S what really annoys me.

Let's break down some of the comments and assess them.

1. Her lip synch sucks....that's a production thing. Can't blame her for that.

2. She presents herself as a "good girl"....not buying. After her first two quasi-Christian singles (the annoying Jesus, Take The Wheel and trite "Don't Forget To Remember Me"), she comes back with the megasmash depicting herself as committing a felony on a guy's car. I would say her persona is so undefined after that move, she doesn't have a true style anymore. Is she now a bad girl who used to be good, or an all-American heartthrob? I say you're right - whichever sells downloads is her answer.

3. American Idol wouldn't be big without Carrie Underwood....she was just a pawn for the big machine. The number one song in the nation for any genre in 2009, Need You Now by Lady Antebellum, was co-written and performed by Hillary Scott - whom was turned down for American Idol twice. Rock sensation Chris Daughtry is the second-biggest AI alum in sales behind Carrie in sales, and he only managed fourth place as the judges criticized his versatility. Seems the Americans Idle moguls want looks over substance.

4. Country music artists sing about whatever sells....false. Country music PROMOTERS only promote those songs that sing/look like what will sell. There are traditional, bluegrass, blues-based and Southern-rock style artists out there. It sucks that MTV (who owns CMT) is a strong monopoly holder and can try to dictate to our younger audiences what to listen to. Carrie Underwood and her perfect looks and saccharine voice are just the ticket.

5. Taylor Swift would never make it on American Idle....true. She is a singer/songwriter and has her own style. See my remarks on Chris Daughtry to see what I think of people bashing those whom can't be the apple of the promoters' eye. As it turns out, the songwriters contest is just as rigged as the show itself, so equally raspy-voiced teen magnate Taylor would just be a radar blip on that list.

I have never noticed her doing that in videos, but I will pay more attention next time. But a good country artist isn't built based on their videos; probably should blame that on the director, not her. Just my opinion.

The music business (as well as many other businesses) is about entertaining and making money. And passion. So I see nothing wrong with being a good girl but singing songs like she does. She has songs for everyone. It is about making money and entertaining your crowd.
