focus on running.. be able to run a solid 2 miles. lacrosse coaches look for that because stick work can always improve fast. 2nd tip... play wall ball and i swear by this.. i started lacrosse last year and i could barely hold the stick. after 2 weeks on wall ball 15 mins a day i was a core player :) on attack and i was wonderful at catching. you get close to a wall( something outside NOT in your house, i have a tennis wall near my school) and you thow the ball at the wall pretty high and let it fall back into your stick. hold the stick above yours head and do it 50 times straight your next goal is 100 :)

The biggest and easiest way to improve your skills is by going out to a brick wall, or buying a "Lax Wall" and just throwing your ball to it, and then trying to catch it. Do it close up, and then far away, high then low, right hand, then left hand. Anything you can think of, because the more you do on the wall, the better you'll be able to catch and throw. Another great way to improve your skills is by going out with a friend, or family member (doesn't have to play lacrosse) and having them throw out some ground balls for you to scoop up. If your school, or local parks or sports fields have Lacrosse cages, use them for practicing your shots! Again, take a friend or family member, and have them feed you balls from behind the cage, and you can run to them, and shoot. Try to shoot for the corners, and really fire the shots in. Don't shoot at the center of the goal, because that's where the goalie would be. Work on shooting from all angles, with both hands. Try coming from behind the goal, in front of the goal, etc. Quick stick shooting is a good skill as well (catching it and firing it right in without cradling) In a game, you might have to break out to catch a ball so work on catching balls with your back mostly to the ball, and your stick facing the ball, while running (you might need to do this if a goalie is trying to clear the ball). Work on defending other girls, because no matter what position you play, chances are you'll have to defend them. If you are at the level you can check other girl's sticks, practice techniques on checking. Don't rely on checking in games though. Don't forget to practice cradling too, you don't have to be outside to do this, you can just take a pair of socks, put them in your stick, and cradle with both hands in your house. One of the biggest key to lacrosse is running. Especially if your thinking of playing, or are currently playing midfield. Go to a track, and just run around the track as fast as you can. Start out with a lap, and increase it up to a timed mile. Try to improve your times as you go on. Also, work on sprinting short distances, or somewhat short distances, such as 50 yards, 100 yards, etc. All you need to do this is a stopwatch. If you can find someone to do these with you, you'll be great. Otherwise, just do the drills by yourself. Trust me, if you keep at these, you'll do really well. Sorry it's so long, but it'll help.
