will epoxy ultimately cure even if you do not have the optimum 50/50 ratio?

Will it act as polyester resins act, with less of its catalyst and just take longer. I realize they are two totally different type reactions, but this has never happened to me before, I ran out of what I guess would be part "B" so I was wondering if anyone has "experimented" either intentionally or accidentally and knows if the "less than optimum" ratio will cure over time

The issue is ; how far off is your ratio ? Slightly less hardening agent may mean it takes a little longer to cure, but too far off means it will always be a sticky mess. Too much will also produce the same effect.

If it hasn't cured enough to be touched without being sticky to touch in 12 hours (generally), it usually means it's not going to cure. (there are some formulations made to cure slowly to allow it to level)

    Best of luck !

Be careful with epoxy our handy-man raised our fence with it I still wonder about its strength.

Also a shelf in our fridge broke and my Dad of all people used epoxy to refix it - it is not sturdy. I think he didnt make the epoxy on right.

But you see I am more worried about the fence falling then a shelf in the fridge collapsing.

So experiment all you like but it depends what you use it for.

No it won't cure as the reaction needs an equal mixture of both to link up to form a solid resin - its like having 25 red socks and 50 blue socks how many pairs of one red and one blue sock can you make and how many are left over?
