  • Has anyone had trouble with travel insurance?

Has anyone had trouble over SAGA travel insurance renewals due to changes in their policy on cancer. Apparently they changed their rules over covering people who have had cancer and now exclude anyone who has had cancer for 10 years rather than 5 as previously. If you have faced this problem who did you then go to for travel insurance. Until today I had always thought that SAGA were the best of the best but now I'm not so sure.

  • Has anyone tried the Dukan Diet?

I have arthritis in my feet and my doctor has advised me that I need to loose weight, no surprise there as I am very overweight. In the past I have tried Weight Watchers (gained weight!!!), Slimming World (OK but gained once stopped), private diet coach (hated every minute!!) I have only once in my life managed to loose a significant amount of weight and made myself ill in the process because I did it too fast. So my doctor suggested the Dukan Diet. I have never heard of it but looked at the website and found that you have to pay £200 for the plan. So before I fork out that amount of money I want to know if it is worth it, does it work and how easy is it to follow?

  • Which camera should I buy for low light applications?

I am looking a digital cameras to use inside in factories where lighting can be low or predominantly low pressure sodium which produces an odd colour cast. My current camera is an Olympus mu850 and gives poor results in these conditions. The low light setting produces grainy/blurred pictures and the flash causes burnout and flaring when it bounces off metal machinery.

I am considering the Canon Ixus 1100HS and the Canon Powershot S95 as both are high sensitivity they cost the same (£339) but which is better for the sort of application I have described or is there something else out there that might be better still. Bear in mind that I have to get into tight places, climb ladders etc so it needs to be compact and not fiddly to use so digital SLR is not really practical.

    Any ideas?

  • Is this email a scam?

I have had an email today with the headline "Final Warning" (not that I have had any other warnings) it says that I will lose my Yahoo mail account if I do not follow a link in the email and entery my password, username, address and occupation. I have deleted it as a scam. Has anyone else had this email today?

  • Can anyone help me identify a small flying insect?

My garden and house have been invaded by thousands of small, flying insects like tiny beetles with brown, elongated bodies about 5mm long. I couldn't get a good picture as they move about too much. When you crush them you get a sweet sticky material on your fingers that smells faintly of cinnamon. I've looked on the web but the sites I tried didn't help much. Anyone any ideas as to what they might be?

  • Does anyone have any tips on growing aubretia?

I love aubretia but in two previous gardens I have failed to get it to take - the plants all die within a few days of being planted. I have tried several times in this garden too but always with the same fatal result. According to the books my garden and the position I am choosing should be ideal so it is obviously something I am doing but I don't know what. I've just bought another plant from the garden centre so any hints or tips on planting would be welcome.

  • Why is my screen resolution wrong on the internet?

My screen resolution on the internet has gone wappy - everything is in big print and Yahoo gives me an error message about screen resolution but when I look in control panel it says the resolution is correct. The resolution is wrong only on the internet and not in other software. It started when Java did an update yesterday. How do I put it right - it is driving me nuts as I need to use the internet for work.

  • Why do I get a sore throat when I eat pineapple?

I don't mean an allergic reaction type thing with swelling and wheezing but just a sore throat. I know there is something in pineapple that tenderises meat - is that what is making my throat sore?

  • Does your cat enjoy being massaged?

My male cat loves being massaged, especially the technigue where you pat the body with cupped hands. He loves this so much he comes and demands to be massaged and if I try to ignore him he gets quite forceful. During the massage he rolls around so that the whole of his body is treated, including his belly. The harder I do it the better he likes it and I have to say his coat is benefiting from it as it is really soft and silky and we have only been doing this for a few weeks. Does any one else have a cat that likes to be massaged like this - especially quite roughly?

Btw - his sister from the same litter can take it or leave it and generally leaves it!

  • Tumble dryer mystery?

Can anyone come up with an explanation of why I have just pulled a load of washing out of my dryer and found that everything was dry except for one pillowcase which was nearly as wet as when it went in. I don't mean it was just a bit damp, I mean it was as wet as when I took out of the washer but everyting else was properly dry. The mate to the pillowcase that is identical was also dry.

  • Has anyone any experience of mouth guards to prevent teeth grinding?

I have just been to the dentist thinking I had a bad tooth, instead she thinks the pain is from my jaw and is due to teeth grinding in my sleep. I know I do it and quite badly as my sister has woken me up to stop me when we are away on holiday together.

As well as the jaw pain I also get episodes of cluster headache.

Has anyone used a mouth guard to stop teeth grinding? Did it work? Did it help with the cluster headaches? Does it take a long time to get used to it and does it affect your sleep?

  • What is in Dreamies Cat Treats?

What on earth is it in Dreamies Cat Treats that cats find so addictive? Mine are going crazy for them after my friend bought a packet for them and when they have finished a pack I get such a look of dispair from them. It doesn't seem to matter which variety it is and the ingredients list doesn't seem to contain anything obvious so does anyone have any ideas?
