    I eat some meat, and hamburger is actually my fav meat. So versatile and easy to work with. But I don't eat meat all the time.

    I like to puree some chickpeas or black beans with some cracker crumbs and eggs, seasonings, and fry them up. It is nothing like a meat burger, it is a whole different taste, but excellent with burger toppings on a bun. You can also do grilled or breaded and fried eggplant or zucchini rounds, again dressed with burger toppings on a bun, nothing at all like a meat burger. I am not a mushroom eater but I have seen portobellas done this way a lot, or even served in place of steak. I guess they are "meaty".

    I bet the most similar tasting to meat is soy derived and probably has a lot of fake flavors. You can get the TVP crumbles and add bbq sauce or Manwich sauce for a sloppy joe type thing.

    When I eat meat, I usually use ground turkey. Tacos, burgers, meat sauce for spaghetti...it is very similar to hamburger.

  • I am an omnivore, but I think Americans abuse the privilege of eating animal products, so I try to reduce my consumption. I'll still eat meat burgers, but my favorite veggie burger is the Morningstar Farms Mushroom Lover's burger. It is DELICIOUS. Full of flavor, and just plain excellent. It's vegetarian, not vegan. I recommend giving it a try!

    Also, if you're trying to cut calories, I recommend you try it with the Sara Lee 80 calorie wheat buns and Kraft fat free cheddar cheese singles. It comes out to about 235 calories unless you add more stuff. I usually add pickles & ketchup for an even 250 calorie burger.

    My favourite type of veggie burger is buy a brand called Cardinal. It may only be available in bulk and for restaurants though. It is so yummy and has a meaty texture. Ones that I can buy in the store would probably be Oh Naturel by Schneiders. They have good vegie products, but they are not that good for you... My favourite veggie burger recipe is this one. It's not a meat substitute one but it tastes AMAZING!!!

    Mushroom Burgers!!!

    Ingredients:

    * 3 tbsp olive oil

    * 1 1/2 lb mushrooms, roughly chopped (combination of crimini, shiitake, and Portobello)

    * 1/2 cup finely chopped onion

    * 6 cloves minced garlic

    * 2/3 cup rolled oats

    * 1/3 cup shredded Parmesan

    * 3/4 cup breadcrumbs

    * 2 eggs, beaten

    * 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley, or 1 tsp dried parsley flakes

    * 1 tsp dried oregano

    * 1/2 tsp salt

    * 1/4 tsp black pepper

    Preparation:

    Heat 1 tbsp oil in large saucepan. Saute the mushrooms, onions and garlic over medium heat for about 10 minutes, or until the liquid boils off, and the mushrooms begin to saute.

    In large bowl, add mushroom mixture to oats, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, eggs, parsley, oregano, salt and pepper. Mix well. Allow to sit for 15 minutes to develop the flavors. Shape into patties. Heat 2 tbsp oil in large non-stick skillet, over medium heat. Fry patties, cooking about 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

    Serve with your favorite burger toppings.

    As a meat eater for over 60 years, I would settle for a salad or my favorite Texas meal featuring pinto beans, fried potatoes, cornbread, a few slices of fresh onions, and iced tea over a veggie burger or preparing a veggie recipe... any day...

    My favorite type of veggie burgers are black bean burgers at Chili's. I get the one that has avocado, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and avocado-ranch on it.

    Other than that, I like Boca burgers too. :3

    I'm a vegetarian and these burgers (especially the black bean one) taste better (or at least in my opinion).

    here is one danger actual, they are especially good maximum suitable Veggie Burger Recipe those make great do-forward nutrition, and you are able to keep shaped, waiting-to-cook dinner patties in the refrigerator for a week's well worth of paintings lunches. Sprouted garbanzos have become extra obtainable, yet once you are able to't locate them, canned or cooked garbanzos (chickpeas) will paintings great. Sprouting boosts their already surprising nutritional fee much extra... 2 a million/2 cups sprouted garbanzo beans (chickpeas) OR canned garbanzos, drained and rinsed 4 great eggs a million/2 teaspoon great-grain sea salt a million/3 cup chopped clean cilantro a million onion, chopped Grated zest of one great lemon a million cup micro sprouts, chopped (attempt brocolli, onion, or alfalfa sprouts - elective) a million cup toasted (finished-grain) bread crumbs a million tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil (or clarified butter) in case you're utilising sprouted garbanzos, steam them till merely comfortable, approximately 10 minutes. maximum of you would be utilising canned beans, so bounce actual in and combine the garbanzos, eggs, and salt in a meals processor. Puree till the mixture is the consistency of an exceptionally thick, somewhat chunky hummus. Pour right into a mixing bowl and stir in the cilantro, onion, zest, and sprouts. upload the breadcrumbs, stir, and enable take a seat for a jiffy so the crumbs can take in the numerous moisture. At this element, you are able to have a humid mixture which you will actually type into twelve a million a million/2-inch-thick patties. I err on the moist section here, because of the fact it makes for a properly textured burger. you are able to consistently upload extra bread crumbs somewhat at a time to enterprise up the dough if choose be. Conversely, merely somewhat water or extra egg may well be used to moisten the batter. warmth the oil in a heavy skillet over medium low, upload 4 patties, conceal, and cook dinner for 7 to 10 minutes, till the bottoms start to brown. take place the warmth if there is not any browning after 10 minutes. turn the patties and cook dinner the 2nd section for 7 minutes, or till golden. get rid of from the skillet and funky on a cord rack on an identical time as you cook dinner the relax patties. carefully shrink each patty in 0.5, insert your favourite fillings, and luxuriate in in the present day. Makes 12 mini burgers.

    Couldron do the best! Although they're very expensive. Quorn are my least favourite because it's the cheapest way to do it but I like Linda McCartney stuff too :)

    Hope this helps :) x
