Was the archaeopteryx fossil a hoax?

What is certainly a hoax is the article itself:

--Nearly all the papers reviewed are between 100 and 150 years old.

--None of the immensely important recent papers on the evolution of birds are reviewed.

--While paleontologists still might be found who disagree with the classification of Archeopteryx as a bird, I have never seen a single opinion by a modern, reputable authority charging that the fossils themselves (all seven of them) are hoaxes.

No evidence is needed to defend against crank charges such as the article makes.

I have more credentials Ian Taylor... I graduated from High School.

If we had one fossil, the possibility of a hoax would be credible.

if all the fossils were discovered by one man, the possibility of a hoax would be credible.

The idea that half a dozen fossils from half a dozen different locations found by half a dozen different people at widely varied times could ALL be a hoax?

Even if you DONT know anything AT ALL about archeology, what do you think your chances are of tampering with a specimen while ALL your assistants, grad students and camp followers are looking the other way? Sites with finds like these are MOBBED with onlookers from the moment the VERY first bone is uncovered. For just ONE fossil to be altered would require a MASSIVE conspiracy.... for two or more to be done so in such similar if not identical ways? No possible chance.
